Garbage.

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 24 September 2010 04:09 (A review of Avatar)

The most overrated film of all time. Hands down.
"How So?" "I'll tell you.
At first the concept is intriguing and quite interesting. Blue clone weird tribal people from another planet? However about..oh I don't know 5 minutes in, you can see the ridiculousness up ahead. Sam Worthington has no emotion until the last minutes of the film and overall did not pan out to be the 'up and coming' star everyone made him out to be. The CGI of the AVATARS, could not have looked more stupid, to be honest. The whole film looked like it was on a freaking computer.
James Cameron, overall douche but great director, did a decent job portraying what he envisioned the film to be. However this film is so political it makes me want to vomit. You can just sense the anti-oil, anti-rich sentiment in the film with the Govt. looking for that certain mineral..I forget the name. It's disgustingly 'hippie-tree hugging-Earth is GOD" type film.

Overall I probably would have enjoyed the film if weren't: for the UNBELIEVABLE hype which bugged the POOP out of me, political statements, terrible acting(other than Zoe Saldana) and crappy CGI. In a nutshell it's HORRENDOUS.

Like Mike (2002) review

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 24 September 2010 03:53 (A review of Like Mike (2002))

Although this movie is pretty dumb, I love it. The characters are very likable and funny in a dumb way. I enjoy the guest appearances by these NBA stars, especially Jason Kidd haha He's my man. I can't say how many times I've seen this film when I was growing up, but it's probably over 30 times...yea. hahaha Calvin cambridge and his pals get into shinanigans, when Calvin discovers a pair of "MJ" shoes give him the ability to play ridiculously better.

Basically on pure nostalgia, I still enjoy this poor film.

John Adams-A Superb Mini Series.

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 23 September 2010 03:08 (A review of John Adams)

When I stumbled upon this on hbo, I instantly fell in love with it. I enjoy American history immensely and this was a great perspective through the eyes of John Adams.
Paul Giamatti is terrific! This film re-assured me of his grand acting abilities. He seems to be underrated and unnoticed at times, however when this came out, all eyes were on Paul. Laura Linney, I have never heard of her before this series and when I watched her performances, I was impressed. She gives great raw emotion to Abigail Adams, it's a role to watch for sure. The always intriguing Davis Morse as the great Pres. Washington was excellent and definitely interesting to see his facial reactions and presence to some of his presented situations.
Overall this is a splendid mini-series with super talent, dialogue and crazy suspenseful scenes. A must see for any history and acting fan to be honest.

8.7-10

Breaker-For Today..WOW

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 23 September 2010 03:37 (A review of Breaker)

This is one emotional album for a Christian. To me it was very inspirational. Picture the most brutal youth retreat trip EVER! That's what it felt like. In 12 tracks you'll end up being tired from head banging your ears off and having them DIEING for a vacation. So many Breakdowns. Definitely their heaviest album.
This album is more in your face brutal than their other 2 albums "Ekklesia"
and "Portraits", lyrically.
"Hell fear me, I am the One that will BRING YOU DOWN/and when you fall, fear me, you'll see my face on the battleground."-Devastator

Based on the poem BREAKER by Jose Palos, there are 4 tracks of poetry scattered throughout the album. Something I have never heard before. Making this unique in the hardcore scenes around. Mattie's vocals are harsh yet again, but with some high and low over-dubbing similar to The black Dahlia Murder.
The Guitar riffs aren't as melodic as their previous release, however the breakdowns are CRUSHING and the guitar's are reminiscent of some of August Burns Red's technicality.

Standout tracks: "Seraphim" and "The Advocate"

Portraits-For Today BREAK IT DOWN!

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 23 September 2010 03:26 (A review of Portraits)

Many hardcore albums sound similar, in this case it's the opposite.
For Today's 2nd release Portraits is quite unique. With an intro with the compelling "Repent or Perish" it definitely gets your attention in either a good or bad way. My opinion it's a good wake up call to many with faith of some sorts. There's a theme, with the names, they're all names featured in the Bible.
All the lyrics are intricately Biblical with Mattie (vocalist/writer) calling on us to wake up, have strength and most of all..have hope in The Lord. This record is not for the close minded, if you are, then you'll be turned off. The harsh vocals get's your blood going and ready to mosh into the nearest crowd.
Musically some of these riffs are exceptionally melodic and ear shattering-ly heavy. The drums are brutal, not always SPEED SPEED! with killer fills. The last track "Talmidium" is, in a nutshell, gospel worship song you would hear in a "Church" service. It catches you off guard.

Song to listen to "Saul (of Tarsus)"

All for One Man

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 22 September 2010 07:05 (A review of Saving Private Ryan)

I find a lot of movies to be predictable and typical and just "eh". This true story based on a WW2 event, on the other hand, really hit me. It's chilling what war is really like, although none of us were there, this is probably as realistic as you can get. So emotional, especially the ending, I cried it got to me so bad in an emotional way. People really need to see this movie. Our society and everything we do is just frustrating. These people died to protect this Grand country and most of us just disregard it and don't care about politics, war or even the realistic things in life.
Tom Hanks was stupendous, my favorite role he's done, other than Cast Away and Terminal. Matt Damon, and the rest of the all star cast were just about perfect for the film. Mad PROPS to Steven Spielberg on this film. I don't like War movies and I loved this film. Not overrated by any means.

Gollllld Fingah!

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 21 September 2010 04:56 (A review of Goldfinger)

Bond movies, although hyped up, are really thrilling and the majority of the time excellent. Sean Connery is clearly James bond in my book. He made Bond a household name and gave him swagger. He's simply right for the role. In this movie some people find it a "bore" at some parts. I find this to be untrue, maybe I'm more patient than others, but not everything has to go BANG! BOOM1 every couple of minutes. There's still a great amount of action throughout the movie, with "boss!" spy weaponry! Oddjob is a killer villain and is just awesome! This is film definitely ranks in my top 5 Bond films, it's quite fantastic.

Pirate Thrash!

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 20 September 2010 03:08 (A review of Crewed By The Damned)

Surprisingly this album is really arrrrsome..ha ha.
Seriously it's quite an adventure. Really quick fast thrash metal songs are killer to headbang/mosh to! "Walk the plank!" is a BOSS song. With instrumentals here and there, it lightens up the mood and then gets you ready for full on hilarious pirate thrash!
I only wished that this album had a tad better sound quality and one or two more 3min+ songs.

The Number 12 Looks Like you...

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 20 September 2010 02:00 (A review of The Twilight Zone)

timeless, classic and ridiculous. I love the cheesy-ness the and weird tales from this show. I even have a Twilight Zone shirt. It's really fantastic. Rod Searling is the coolest guy you'll ever witness. The show never disapoints. It's bound to be grand when it has been on 50 years with reruns. Watch this stupendous sci-fi mind thriller.

FALCOHHN PUNCH!

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 18 September 2010 06:38 (A review of Super Smash Bros.)

My 2nd favorite game. Just spectacular. I enjoy this more than the WI and Game cube because, for instance, you hit someone at the same time and you have the more powerful move you PREVAIL. This doesn't occur in the dumb new games. Plus it's too fast. I enjoy the slow awesomeness of the original.

Favorite Character: Captain Falcon-quick, powerful, beastly and B.A.
Level: Fox' Ship-Gigantic level, lasers and it's in fricken' space.
