Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World review

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 23 October 2010 10:26 (A review of Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World)

Russell Crowe is exceptional and plays a great captain and you can always count on him to be a leader. From this film, if I was on the boat, in that crew, with him as a captain..I'd have no worries.
Paul Bettany is always the man. Especially when it comes to supporting roles. The bond between him and Crowe is intriguing and awesome. You really feel for the hardships and sacrifices the crew has to endure together. An interesting film with a killer point of view.
It even applies to most age groups, it's not that bloody, no swearing, sex and you can watch it with the family.

Dislikes: French hahaha jk

"Cindy The Tv's leaking."

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 23 October 2010 05:42 (A review of The Ring)

Ok that wasn't said in the movie, but from the parody Scary Movie 3. I have owned the movie for a while and found it odd that I've never watched it. It looked mediocre, but it needed to be seen.

The beginning of the movie was decent and a crazy thing or 2 happens, which wasn't too bizarre but either way creepy. Naomi Watts is a fine actress and did well in this role as a mother/reporter for a newspaper.

The plot, although slow and boring to some, I enjoyed and it kept me glued to the t.v. Creepy things and facts here and there. A pretty well done job.
The ending was surprisingly different than what I was expecting. I love to think about "what could have happened? or what the heck was that all about?" I enjoy that.

Dislikes: The girl, you hear about A LOT, is not in it as much as you would want. More creepy things would have been nice.

Either way it was a great movie and I'm glad I watched it. I love thrillers that aren't gory or dwell on cursing, sex and trying to make you jump every 5 seconds.

August DESTROYS EVERYTHING.

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 22 October 2010 01:01 (A review of Constellations)

After the highly acclaimed sophomore album, "Messengers", they had crazy shoes to fill for their fans. This release does not disappoint in any sense of the word.
Lyrics: Mainly hardcore style with hope and Christian themes. One song is even an instrumental for 98% of the song.
Vocals: Jake Luhrs is just as raw and powerful as he is on Messengers. Lows occur on tracks like "Meddler". Jake's spectacular.
Guitars: Brubaker writes exceptional riffs and is as technical as ever, it's amazing. White Washed has wowfull riffs straight up the wazoo.
Bass: I forget his name, but the bassist keeps amazing time and plays like a Geddy Lee of metalcore, he's exceptional.
Overall this album beats most from 2009 and is ridiculously technical and heartfelt.

Favorite Tracks:
Whitewashed
Indonesia and
Meddler

In you're face lawyer! Zuckerberg style.

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 21 October 2010 07:36 (A review of The Social Network)

I watched this movie, honestly to say it's crap. I hate hype and frankly this hype was deserved. Eisenberg is excellent as Zuckerberg, he portrayed him well, with his witty-quick dialogue. The movie is portrayed way differently than in the stupid trailers. I couldn't stand the trailers, the movie is much better.
Timberlake as th napster dude guy, was fantastic. He made him seem mysterious and puzzling. Zuckerberg's friend(I forget his name), was made to seem like the good guy AND...the bad guy, something I haven't seen done well. However, it was excellent and it kept me glued to the story and the flashbacks were "Lost" like in a way, if you think about it.

A must see, really!

Amy Adams + Emily Blunt = WIN

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 21 October 2010 07:21 (A review of Sunshine Cleaning)

Amy Adams and Emily Blunt are 2 of my favorite actors, yet I've never heard of this film..hmm. I had to watch it. I didn't know what to expect, for I saw no trailer or knew anything about it. After watching the film, I'd consider the movie, a "dramedy".
The two fine actresses are sisters struggling with everyday life and not being 'wealthy'. Amy Adams' character has a son and has feelings for Steve Zahn's character, drama is ensued by this as you will watch the movie. She also is very caring and heads the family, if-you-will. Her sister played by Emily Blunt, is a bit younger and has that anxt-free-spirit-rebellion personality about her, while still being loving. Alan Arkin plays their father and is grumpy and it cracks me up, similar to "Little Miss..", but without all the pointless swearing. A great line of his, in which is profound was:
"Tis a business lie, not a LIFE lie."

There's dark humor, so it's not for everybody and it's not the feel good movie, but It's enjoyable to see the characters and story develop. A killer movie for sure.

Poopy Mask

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 21 October 2010 01:38 (A review of Son of the Mask)

Mask was awesome..Lord knows why they had to ruin it with this garbage.
First of all, there's no JIM CARREY! That makes the character and film! He's the only person that could do it. Such a shame.
The whole plot to the film, does not go with the Mask's character and is really lame. People need to NOT watch this, waste of time. It's like a freaking Lifetime film..ugh. Plus Kal penn is in it..he's a horrible actor. Plays the same roles..Why was this made..tisk tisk tisk.

Likes: None other than I was glad that the horror ended.

I really enjoyed Se7en. It's interesting, creepy, weird and disturbing. With actors such as the great Morgan Freeman, Brad Pitt and Gwyneth Paltrow, it's stellar. the acting is quite well, not excellent, but up there. The plot keeps you on the edge of your seat, which I'm fond of and keeps your brain thinking.
The ending did surprise me, no shocker there and I liked what they did with it. Eventually I will buy this film.

Dislikes: There could have been more action/violence.

Chosen One!..I'm coming!

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 21 October 2010 01:26 (A review of Kung Pow: Enter the Fist)

Steve Oedekerk does an exceptional job with this mock/parody of those classic, cheesy Martial arts movies. He combines 2 films from the late 70's, with a mix of new footage. It's great and utterly hilarious. I love it. I realize many find these types of movies to be stupid..then again most of THOSE people love crap like American Pie and "stupid haha got punched in the nuts" humor. Although there are some 'groin shots', the whole film does not rely AT ALL, on that type of humor.

Dislikes: I didn't like the beginning or the fact THAT THERE'S NO SEQUEL!!

BREE BREEEEEEE!

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 19 October 2010 02:47 (A review of Deliverance)

Me already NOT being a fan of the woods..this movie didn't help hahaha. I enjoyed the realistic-ness to the film. No music, actors did most of their stunts, shaky camera, non complex, yet realistic dialogue. It was well done in my opinion. Although I really didn't like the rape scene, of curse, who would, but it was disturbing and I had to fast foward, it was still a killer film. Burt Reynolds and Jon Voight were great characters and b.a. haha. A creepy, weird film to watch..beware...

There are..NO...RULES!....GO! *pause*

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 15 October 2010 01:23 (A review of Rat Race)

Rat Race is a great film that includes: slapstick and creative humor with classic elements. I love the film frankly. It's very enjoyable and brings out good laughs every-time.

The plot is simply this: In a weird attempt to find new ways of wagering, these dudes in Las Vegas get random people to compete, find and claim a bag of money and the hilarity that ensues. There's dark humor elements and burst-out-laughing dialogue throughout the movie.

With a cast consisting of: John Cleese, Rowan Atkinson, Cuba Gooding Jr. and others..it's diffidently a film to view. I highly recommend it to every fan of comedy.

Dislikes: hmm....I wish it was longer. :)
