Before the Throne of Infection review

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 14 October 2010 06:29 (A review of Before the Throne of Infection)

I love pig squeals and this amazing album art, so I checked these guys out. Only to find out that this is like cool music with rape porn lyrics...yea. Some pig squeals were cool, but that's it, other than that, it's just VILE.

2/10

UGH

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 14 October 2010 02:20 (A review of Gamer)

Out of curiosity, I watched Gamer. Wish I didn't. Right off the bat it was very dismal..ok I can live with that. However the idea of this gaming world for disgusting fetishes, sexual pleasures and violence is very screwed up. I believe the directer/writer's failed to portray this idea as being BAD. Almost praised at some points. A lot of swearing and the violence wasn't even that good.

Likes: One fight scene and that's about it. Nothing to like in this film.

Overall a very disappointing and messed up film. One to stay away from, unless you enjoy gross stuff..then go for it.

2/10

Find John Murdock!

Posted : 13 years, 6 months ago on 13 October 2010 07:49 (A review of Dark City)

Being a "Sci-fi" fan and upon looking at some reviews of this movie, I decided to purchase Dark City on Amazon. Kiefer Sutherland, William Hurt and Jennifer Connelly (my favorite actor/actress), I knew it had to be special.
Visually this film is up there with Inception, keep in mind this movie is over 10 years old. It's truly stunning. The cgi is not horrible and rather complex and striking to the mind.

**No spoilers, pretty much an intro into the film.**

This film is definitely DARK and not a happy film "per-say". Kiefer's character, Dr. Schreber, is a scientist whom has to work with a group called "The Strangers".
We don't know about them, but you'll find out later on. Suddenly this character named John Murdock,(Rufus Sewell), wakes up in a room with memory loss.
The film takes you on a journey, with Murdock, to help him remember and gain back; his memory.

A grand visual film with crazy characters, a mind "messer" and an epic concept/tale to watch.

FLAWS: Heck for a rated "R" film, there's no swearing, minimal nudity, no sex and an overall masterpiece. The only flaw is that I wish it never ended. :)

Rating (9.6-10)

More Like Ridiculous

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 7 October 2010 12:20 (A review of Religulous)

I watched this with an open mind, for I found it intriguing. Within the first 20 minutes, I knew right where this was headed. Bill Maher, funny sometimes, fails to do so in this documentary. If being ignorant with a know it all attitude is funny, then I don't know what humor is haha. He talks to Ken Ham at one point, Ham proves his point and Maher purposely twists what he says, it's hilarious.
Bill questions/makes fun of: Christianity, Judaism and a little bit of Islam. Interesting, fails to make fun of or attempt to, make of: Buddhism, Hinduism and the hundreds of other religions. Sure you can't have time to do that, of course. However, Buddhism and Hinduism are MAJOR religions. He seems to only target 'religions' that believe in God.
The questions he asks, have been asked before, making this documentary not even THAT original. Overall this documentary was poor, even with some funny moments.

Thrash Killing Demons

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 6 October 2010 10:29 (A review of Demon Hunter)

"Demon Hunter"-The First thrash metal whatever core album by the mighty Demon Hunter. Unlike their releases that follow, this is by far their most raw and thrash-y. Clark's vocals are just about at it's prime and couldn't be better. Vocally, Clark speeds up the vocals almost as if they're nu-metal or rapcore, just without all the garbage haha. I love it. Lyrics deal with Christianity, mainly struggling with this world and God's teaching and how this world is terrible. Great rhyming and well spoken vocals with rhythm.
Guitar work, reminds me of straight up thrash and more modern day riffs, in which are now popular. Don Clark knows which melodies go with Ryan's vocal power, it's a sweeet thing to hear. The drums are excellent, fills that catch me off guard, I truly love. I'm no drummer, but this guy can bang on some bongos.

Favorite Tracks:#
1.Screams of the Undead 4:34
2.I Have Seen Where it Grows 3:14
#3.Infected 3:08
4.My Throat is an Open Grave 3:54
#5.Through the Black 4:27
#6.Turn Your Back and Run 3:48
7.And the Sky Went Red 0:29
8.As We Wept 3:42
#9.A Broken Upper Hand 4:29
10.The Gauntlet 6:56

With Roots Above And Branches Below review

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 6 October 2010 10:10 (A review of With Roots Above And Branches Below)

An Eclectic album. There's nothing wrong with this album. It has everything: insane riffs, killer breakdowns, boss growling, soothing singing, ka-razee keyboards and drum fills straight up the waaazoo! Mike Hranica's vocals are starting to idk how to put this but a tad weeker. I'm afraid he's not going to be screaming for years to come :/ Either way, this is one of the best albums of 2009, if not THEE best!
My favorite tracks are: Assistant to the Regional Manager..and Wapakalypse.

Icon is still ILL.

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 6 October 2010 09:54 (A review of The Ills of Modern Man (CD/DVD Summer Slaughter Ed.))

2 cds later, Despised Icon is making the Illist deathcore out there. I looked up their "In The Arms of Perdition" music video and decided I needed to get into this band from Montreal. With two vocalists of terror on the mic, the vocals are extreme! The mother of all pig-squeals, if you will. The lyrics are pretty cool, dealing with inner struggles and you want to make sure you don't mess with their friends yo! There's some positive lyrics, for instance:
"I failed you once again/yet you still hold my hand."
TIOMM is the first album with guitarist Al Glassman. He puts out some of the most technical riffage and nasty breakdowns, I have ever listened to.
Alex Pellitier, drummer, kills it on every track especially the self titled one. The fills catch you off guard and most dare not try to attempt or re-create haha.

In my opinion, this is there best work. I highly recommend this album to drummers and avid hardcore music fans. This is some of the best stuff to mosh to.

DogsCanGrowBeardsAllOver

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 5 October 2010 08:14 (A review of Dear Love: A Beautiful Discord)

With 9 songs done over from their demo(Patterns of a Horizon), The Devil Wears Prada come out with an EXPLOSION of some of the most dramatic/bone crushing metalcore on this planet.
Compacted into nearly 40 minutes, these 11 songs don't disappoint. Distinct songs like "DogsCanGrowBeardsAllOver" and "Texas is South", take you on a bumpy ride of "spin-kicking" breakdowns and melodic synth.
Mike Hranica (vocalist/lyricist)gives some of the most raw vocal killing screams. He truly puts everything he has into this record. Lyrics deal with Christianity, baptism struggling being a Christian and crying out to and trusting in God.
"..don't be ashamed of your faith.
dear Lord- deliver me from
hypocrisy and surcease.."-(from Dogscangrowbeardsallover)

Whether you are a Christian or not, doesn't matter..This is an excellent, Nasty, boss album worth head-banging to.

EYE Car Lee

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 5 October 2010 03:35 (A review of iCarly)

The only reason this gets an 7 is because it's stupid and funny. Spencer (Jerry Trainor) makes the whole show. He is just ridiculous. I enjoy creative homor the most, but random stupid crap like this cracks me up all the time. When stupid internet queer-bag Fred showed up on the show tho, the episode failed beyond recognition. Killer stupid random humor crap wooo!

Html Rulez d00d--Plagues

Posted : 13 years, 7 months ago on 5 October 2010 12:18 (A review of Plagues)

The Devil Wears Prada strike back with their "Chainsaw brutality/tornado strength" and send it to the metalcore masses. Now considered a "big deal" album in the Christian metal scene, Plagues is still a top album.

These 10 tracks should make you want to send plagues in the most brutal way around the world. Mike Hrancia's vocals are raw and sure to bring demise to your hearing. The artwork is just spectacular and suits the album perfectly. He even consider's the album "visually appealing".

The first track Goats On A Boat, gives you like 2 seconds of silence into one crazy intro of dissonance. There's even technical ABR style riffs in this song. It's the cat's pjs for sure. "Hey John, What's Your Name Again" has a classy super chorus and it's quite melodic. IT jumps right into "Don't Dink and Drance", which is one of the most explosive tracks on the record and ironically talks about the ridiculousness of "torturing" oneself with cigarettes. One nasty breakdown occurs at the end of the song..oh man1 I get crazy just thinking about it!

Plagues will be heard for many years to come and will inspire many, it inspired me I know that for sure. They pioneered the keyboard-tech-driven-chorus singing brutal death metal, that hundreds fail to come close to. Long Live THe Devil Wears Prada!
